Weight fluctuation during Covid-19

That is not my waist, incase you were about to roll your eyes or leave 😉

Paying homage to the Freshman-15, my husband claims to have embraced the “Covid-19” as the current relationship he’s having with his weight. Similar to many, I think additional anxiety over health, finances, isolation, racism, even more contentious politics (who knew that was possible!) and the general state of our planet at the moment . . . has caused many to let their health goals slip. The temptation to comfort-eat and drink is there. And insomnia really hammers on our will to exercise.

On the other hand, you could be like me. Last year, I lost 40 pounds with a Keto diet. It worked great, except for the exercise portion: I couldn’t really play competitive tennis or up the ante on my continued efforts to train for a 10K. I gained a little weight back over the holidays, and then since Covid hit, I’ve found myself slowly losing weight again – probably mostly due to my social options becoming virtually obsolete. This time, I haven’t been doing Keto, which means slower weightloss BUT, I’ve been able to perform better on the treadmill. I’m up to about 4 miles now, which for me is huge. Despite being an athlete most of my life, I find plain old running to be one of the hardest things to master. So, I didn’t start from scratch (Couch-to-10K), I view myself as a Waddle-To-10K kinda person.

On the Cooking Up Fun / Health page, I focus on what you’d call a “modified low carb” diet. However, I will try to provide Keto options to all my Health recipes on this page for those of you going that route. For anyone who has other dietary restrictions or goals, please feel free to contact me with questions. I am a former personal chef, and I specialized in working with people who had health-related requirements. My clients included folks on diets (all kinds!), athletes, sports models, pregnant women (which lead to baby clients and their organic purees), celiacs and diabetics, etc. So, hopefully I’ll have a suggestion for you!

Whatever your health goals are, I know this time in our lives can make them hard to achieve, but the more we reach out to each other with support, ideas and most importantly, enthusiasm and humor, the better our odds of kicking butt.

Kick the butt of Covid stress eating!
